Educational Tabletop Game
Navigational Portal is a unique educational game and tool that will allow the players to learn and experience mathematics in a fun and interactive way. Terms such as "education and mathematics" do not feature within the game. Players will experience all the fun of traditional board games whilst being exposed to the simplicity of trigonometry. First and foremost it is fun. It is not necessary to have an understanding of trigonometry, both parents and children will learn through play. A unique part of the game is the ‘artefact’, which is fictitiously dated to the period of Mesopotamia and which probably does not even come from our world. The artefact is a navigational portal that takes players out of the solar system to discover real distant stars and planets that exist all within ten parsecs of the Sun. The navigational portal will take you through an area of approximately 66 light-years across. To successfully navigate, the player uses the ‘keys’ to the navigation portal. The keys are the cards that the player acquires during the game, each key represents a specific mathematical skill.
